CIVIL WAR MILITARY IMPRISONMENT; SLAVERY & ABOLITION
|
Disk 1 is a library of works about the conditions under which prisoners of war were kept during the Civil War. Included here are many first hand accounts here as well as official reports. This is a fine research source for anyone interested in the Civil war.
Disks 2 deals witih the subjects of slavery and abolition. In the 19th century, slavery in America became a hot button topic dividing Americans in much the same manner that abortion is today. When a new state was proposed for admission to the Union, there was the decision would it be a "slave state" or a "free state." There was much violence and bloodshed over this issue in Missouri and Kansas. Slavery in the United States ended with the Civil war.
This disk is divided into the following topics:
ABOLITION - includes "The Abolitionist" and "The Liberty Bell" anti-slavery perodicals FREDERICK DOUGLASS JOHN BROWN - includes handwritten notebooks SLAVERY CHURCHES & THE ANTI-SLAVERY VIEW CHURCHES AND THE PRO-SLAVERY VIEW THE UNDERGROUND RAILROAD
