WW II German newsreels BANNED FROM EBAY - shrink wrapped boxed 6 DVD-ROMs

This is an attractively packaged boxed and shrink-wrapped 6 DVD-ROM collection of newsreels and films produced in Germany during world War II. The narration is in German with no subtitles. All are in mp4 format. The free VLC player handles these files nicely.

 This item has been forbidden to be sold on eBay. They are whores for censorship. You can sell anything on eBay festooned with swastikas and Third Reich emblems, but no spoken German will be tolerated. These are historical media documents and should be freely shared. 

This collection of material gives a look inside Germany from before the Nazis ascended to power in 1933 through March of 1945, just before the collapse of Nazi Germany. While history is by and large written by the winners, this is a visual record of what the people on the losing side were seeing. This material can be largely viewed as propaganda as all media in Germany at that time was controlled by the state. Presenting alternative points of view was an illegal act. Anyone doing so found themselves the subject of unpleasantness at the hands of the Gestapo. With the exception of some undated material on the first disk. the contents of this 6-disk set have been arranged in chronological order.

The "Deulig-Woche" is a newsreel from Germany which has been produced from 1920 to 1931. Political, cultural and sporting events from Germany and foreign countries are shown.The "Deulig-Tonwoche" is a newsreel from Germany which has been produced from 1932 to 1939. Political, military, cultural and sporting events from Germany and foreign countries are shown. The "Deutsche Wochenschau" is a newsreel out of the Third Reich which has been produced from June 1940 until March 1945. Political, military, cultural and sporting events from Germany and foreign countries are shown.

These newsreels are typically 15-20 minutes in length. 

These disks are not standard DVDs to be used in a standard DVD player, they are meant for use in a computer. All material is in the public domain.

 This material is offered as historical documentation and histoical source and educational tool and does not imply any endorsement of the principles and beliefs espoused by Hitler, the Nazis or the Third Reich.

These should be of interest to anyone involved in mass communication. The production values are quite high in term of how the visual message is assembled on film, the selection of shots, camera movement, etc. This is combined with background music juxtaposed in a way calculated to have a heavy emotional impact on the viewer resulting in a very powerful propaganda tool. The juxtaposition of subdued, uptempo major key music, a good musical feeling, under images of a motorized Wermacht column proceeding through a scene of utter destruction, giving the viewer the feeling this is all good and necessary. A low angle shot of a Luftwaffe pilot as he relreases his bomb load with thundering Wagneresque strains gives the impression of the national hero giving his all for the Fatherland. This is really rather scary stuff, a lesson in the power of mass communication over mass consciousness.
